Requirements

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months with at least 2 blank visa pages
  • A completed, printed and signed online application form with one recent white-background passport photo
  • Documentation of the commercial or trade activity - for example an invitation letter from a trade partner in China, or an invitation to a trade fair
  • Proof of legal residence if you are applying outside your country of nationality

How to apply

  • Complete the COVA application form at consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA and upload your documents
  • When prompted, submit your passport, the signed confirmation page and supporting documents to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center or Chinese embassy/consulate for your area
  • Provide fingerprints if required and pay the visa fee
  • Collect your passport when the status shows it is ready

  • Original passport plus a photocopy of the bio-data page
  • Printed, signed COVA confirmation page and a recent passport photo
  • An invitation letter or documents on the commercial activity issued by the Chinese trade partner, stating the purpose and itinerary of the visit and who bears the costs
  • Proof of legal residence if not applying in your home country

Frequently asked questions

  • The M visa is for commercial and trade activities (business dealings, meetings, trade fairs). The F visa is for non-commercial exchanges, visits and study tours. Choose the M visa where the purpose is commercial.
