Standard Visitor Visa

If you are coming to the UK for leisure such as a holiday or to visit family, or business such as attending meetings or for another reason such as receiving private medical treatment then you may require a Standard Visitor Visa.

The Standard Visitor Visa has replaced:

• Family Visitor visa
• General Visitor visa
• Child Visitor visa
• Business Visitor visa, including visas for academics, doctors and dentists
• Sports Visitor visa
• Entertainer Visitor visa
• Prospective Entrepreneur visa
• Private Medical Treatment Visitor visa
• Approved Destination Status (ADS) visa

If you have applied for any of the above visas previously, now you are only required to apply for the Standard Visitor Visa. It is recommended to apply 3 months before you travel and a decision is usually met within 3 weeks.

The Standard Visitor Visa allows you to stay in the United Kingdom for up to 6 months at a time. There are certain circumstances where you may be able to stay longer such as if you’re receiving private medical treatment. If you are going to visiting the UK regularly over a long period of time, you can apply for a long-term Standard Visitor Visa. In that case you can then choose between the following  Visa Application:

• 2 Years
• 5 Years
• 10 years

Standard Visitor VisaYou can stay for a maximum of 6 months for each visit during your visa duration. Fees will increase for the longer the duration.
