Italian Family Reunification Visa (Ricongiungimento Familiare)

Who it's for

Eligible family members (typically spouse, minor children, and dependent relatives under the conditions in law) of a non-EU national lawfully resident in Italy on a qualifying permit or national visa.

Non-EU family members of EU or Italian citizens use dedicated family-reason routes with their own conditions.

Requirements

• Sponsor holds a qualifying Italian residence permit or national visa
• Nulla osta for family reunification issued to the sponsor
• Sponsor meets the minimum income requirement
• Sponsor has suitable accommodation meeting the housing standards
• Documentary proof of the family relationship

How to apply

The sponsor in Italy applies for the nulla osta for family reunification at the immigration desk, providing income and housing evidence.

Once the nulla osta is granted, the family member applies for the Type D visa at the competent Italian consulate with proof of the relationship.

After arrival, the family member applies for the residence permit for family reasons within the required period.
